ANNUAL TRADITIONS

A Cub Scout who goes through the program from Tiger Cub to Webelos will learn that our Pack has certain events they look forward to every year.  These signature events are core of Scouting - activities which require active participation, develop character, and enrich the lives of our Scouts.

Arrow of Light Ceremony

The highest award in Cub Scouts is the Arrow of Light Award. Earning this rank prepares a Webelos Scout to become a Boy Scout.  A Webelos scout that earns his Arrow of Light patch has also completed nearly all the requirements to earn the Scout badge in his Boy Scout troop. This achievement is marked by a "crossing over" ceremony, officiated by Troop 6 Boy Scouts, and the presentation of a specially made arrow to each newly appointed Scout.

Fall/Spring Campouts

Each Fall and Spring (usually October and late April/early May), Pack 6 holds car camping outings at approved Scouts BSA locations. These optional campouts are a great way for scouts to earn merit badges, learn new skills, bond with fellow scouts, and develop a sense of confidence, leadership, and respect for nature.

Pinewood Derby

Held in March, the Pinewood Derby is Cub Scouting's signature event, where Scouts take a pinewood block and using simple tools, carve out a car to race against other scouts.  Pack winners go on to compete in a District-wide race.

Christmas Greenery Sale

Pack 6's primary fundraiser is our annual Greenery Sale. Scouts are asked to approach family, friends, and neighbors and sell holiday wreaths, centerpieces, and pine cones. This gives Scouts an opportunity to deal with others and give a presentation, provides Scouts an opportunity to be visible in the community, and helps build Scout confidence. All proceeds go directly to Pack 6.
